It's amazing how on Flickr a particular photo, if given extra attention, can end up in this virtuous circle where all of the attention, comments and people saving it as a "favorite" means it shows up higher in search results for other people, leading them to comment on it, favorite it, etc. This shot is not one of my favorites, but it happened to be picked a few weeks ago as one of many shots on the Flickr corporate blog. That actually didn't result in that many immediate views, but it did kick off a rising cycle that is still going on, with almost 200 people designating the photo a favorite.
(And to be honest, I still don't see the great appeal myself, even though I took it. I like it - I have a framed one on my wall - but I don't think it's an amazing photo per se and if it wasn't a memento of a trip I doubt I would have printed it.)
